Can dogs eat ginger?

Yes — in moderation. Small amounts of fresh ginger are safe for dogs and even used to settle nausea — the same compound that calms human motion sickness works in dogs. A little grated ginger in homemade treats is fine. Large amounts can thin blood and upset the stomach, and sugared or candied ginger is a candy, not a spice. Tiny and occasional is the rule.
